ITEM#-002: Vacant Gospel

Stabilization Status: TUTUS (Safe)
Security Clearance: LEVEL 2 / LOOMMASTER DIRECTIVE ONLY
Facility Placement: Level 1: The Weft (Loom-04 Archival Vault Box 12)

Stabilization Criteria

ITEM#-002 is to be kept completely closed and secured using its attached leather wrap-around buckled straps when not under active scrutiny. The notebook must remain stored flat inside a vacuum-sealed plexiglass display container inside Loom-04’s archival wing. Humidity levels must remain static to prevent structural text breakdown or ink deterioration.

Personnel entering documentation changes or reviewing item pages must wear heavy canvas gloves. Under no circumstances should direct graphite lead pencils, drafting charcoals, or liquid permanent inks be brought within three (3) meters of the open artifact grid, to prevent unmonitored content integration errors.

ITEM#-002 (Vacant Gospel): An unbranded, hand-bound leather ledger featuring four gold-leaf embossed Chinese characters traversing the vertical axis of its front cover panel. The title serves as a striking cryptic irony; despite the outward presentation of a religious text, the artifact contains zero printed scripture, liturgical genealogies, or canonical indexes. Upon turning past the outer leather binding, all baseline print matrices completely dissolve into a series of blank, high-density cotton-rag parchment sheets. The material functions exclusively as a physical host canvas for shifting charcoal architectural illustrations depicting a moving industrial clockwork town structure.

Populating these detailed charcoal buildings are dozens of microscopic, silhouette human figures wearing dark trench coats and fedoras, designated as ITEM#-002-Alpha ("The Pocket People"). Frame animation sweeps prove that these illustrations are fully sentient, alive, and moving dynamically across the flat paper fibers of the open columns whenever human visual focus shifts away from the canvas plane. The entities show an alert reaction to direct lens monitoring, quickly scrambling to hide inside the dense cross-hatched lines or ducking beneath drawn doorway arches if a facility handler utilizes a magnifying loop to study an isolated sector.

Crucially, if any handling victim falls into deep, hyper-focused curiosity and attempts to decode or continuously read the blank spaces between the charcoal structures, they trigger an aggressive neural infection known as the Silhouette Inversion Cycle. The anomaly begins as a faint, localized micro-acoustic ticking hum deep inside the observer's inner ear, entirely synchronizing their baseline heartbeat to the shifting rhythm of the clockwork town's gears. Within 72 hours of initial exposure, the victim completely loses their human language centers, speaking exclusively in automated mathematical loops while rhythmically clicking their teeth to count down every passing second.

In the terminal phase of the cycle, the subject's physical skin rapidly loses its pigmentation, hardening and crystallizing into a solid, cold limestone shell. Simultaneously, an identical, microscopic new black charcoal silhouette wearing a trench coat and a fedoras permanently spawns inside one of the warehouse illustrations on the page grid—proving their living consciousness was literally extracted and dragged down past the paper fibers to join the permanent population of ITEM#-002-Alpha. Because the city inside the ledger is actively hunting for new citizens, the book must remain strictly buckled shut outside of authorized test grids.
